Yes, within some limits, you can. The Giant Mountains offer various comfort levels in the mountain huts (the so-called boudas). You can indicate your preference when booking. A surcharge will be calculated based on your choice.
The standard rooms we book are typically private multi-person rooms (suitable for families or small groups) with shared facilities in the hallway. Please note that couples cannot book this room type, they can only book the room types below (i.e. single or double rooms).
However, you can opt for an upgrade. These are the most common options:
- Standard (Included): Private multi-person rooms (family rooms) with shared facilities (shower/toilet) in the hallway. Please note that couples cannot book this room type, they can only book the room types below (i.e. single or double rooms).
- Upgrade 1: Private single or double rooms with shared facilities in the hallway.
- Upgrade 2 (Luxury): Private rooms with private (en-suite) facilities.
- Budget (on request): Shared dormitories. This is only available at a few huts/boudas and requires a customized quote. Please note that you must bring your own sleeping bag and sleeping mat when this is your choosen room type.
Giant Mountains Expert Tip: If you have the flexibility to be flexible with your start date, it significantly increases the chance of us securing the best rooms or your desired upgrades, especially during high season.
Important to know
Please note the following additional information:
- Availability: Not all room types are available in all accommodations (huts or boudas). If you choose a specific room type, we may need to adjust the route to include huts that offer this type. We will, of course, inform you of this in advance.
- Cost of Upgrades: The cost for upgrades (especially rooms with private facilities) on the ‘East Flank’ route is generally considerably higher than upgrades on the ‘West Flank’ route.
- Facilities: In most mountain huts, the facilities (toilets and showers) are shared and located in the hallway. Private facilities are only available if you opt for the luxury upgrade.
